The foxhole court characters

That all being said - he is hugely unlikable and I can't wait for Neil to punch him really hard at some point. So I'm very interested in seeing how he progresses.

His actions are despicable and so far, nothing really works with his character - he seems to be the most powerful entitiy in the entire story and nothing explains this. I absolutely loathe Andrew with my entire being and I'm still interested to see who he is going to turn out to be in the end - because he obviously is hiding a lot. We get glimpses of their pasts and really stunning overviews of their personalities that made me personally want to know more about them and kept them interesting nevertheless. Then there are the secondary characters and by god, where to start? They are every shades of the rainbow and honestly, I think they make a great cast of characters. He also seems to occassionally forget he is on the run and/or afraid of Kevin recognizing him (which is still a possibility even after he has been around Kevin for a couple of weeks), because he gets rid of his contact lenses (which reveals his apparently stunning and surely recognition-worth real eye-color) without really thinking twice about it. His love for Exy is admirable and does explain a lot of his decisions, but it's never made quite clear why he loves the game as much as he does and why it's worth basically sacrificing his life for. He lets other charaters toy with him and it's never clear why. Many of Neil's decisions I simply couldn't understand - he doesn't seem to be a push-over until he acts like one. However, the book also tell us that he is just pretending to be this person and since we get very little insight into his thoughts that still doesn't really give us much of a personality from him. I did find, however, that the later chapters of the book do give us a few traits (short-tempered, unfazed) that could be interpreted as his personality. The main character is quite the interesting kid, though we don't learn much about him apart from his past - his entire personality seems to be defined by his tragic past, which is a great starting point but leaves a lot open about what kind of person he is. The story didn't grip me until chapter three, which is fine since there was a bit of built-up first and the story only really started getting interesting later.
